Unlocking Relief: The Therapeutic Power of Abdominal Massage for Autism and Constipation

Constipation, stomach pain, nausea, and diarrhea are a real problem for not just Autism or ADHD but are seen in other mental health challenges like anxiety.

One of the problems we had with several of our children, if they were constipated, was they would not want to eat. We were already struggling with food sensitivities and allergies this meant they could end up in a difficult cycle, and when I went to doctors, all I was given was medication.

Mineral oil is routinely suggested in these severe cases, but upon further research I discovered that mineral oil would coat the lining of the small intestines and block nutrient absorption.

We were already fighting a battle of nutritional deficiencies and bizarre eating patterns, surely there are more wholistic options?

I learned to hide ground up flaxseed, or chia in muffins, pancakes, cookies, veggie burgers, or even spaghetti sauce. Over time as we increased hidden vegetable, fruit fibers and increased drinking water, added supplementation the bowels began to regulate better.

Below I have created a "how to massage the abdomen for constipation" for kids or adults with special needs. However, it really is for anyone struggling to be regular.

Enjoy!
